going crazy for garter squish

It's official--my second garter squish blanket is done! The grand total? 3,600 yards out of my stash. WOOOOOOOOOO! Using size 13 needles created a much better finished product this time. I love, love, love the first garter squish blanket I made, but I have noticed that the large garter loops made with size 15 needles lend themselves to being snagged/pulled very easily. Size 13 needles creates a more firm loops, but still soft and snuggly. I cast on 150 stitches for this one to make up for the smaller needles size, and it is still very ample in size. It easily covers two people on the couch! And also stretches the length of a standard couch. For full details of all the yarns I used in this one, visit my Ravelry project page.

When you're on a roll, why not keep on going? So yes---this is the start of my third garter squish blanket. This one is intended for my little guy's "big boy bed." I've had this blinding orange acrylic in my stash for over a year with intentions of making him a blanket with it. I'm toning it down a notch with this charcoal gray Lion Brand Homespun. Although now that I look at it, it's going to be a bit Halloween-y isn't it? LOL. That's okay. We LOVE Halloween in this house!

But wait, there's more! Yup, it's my third Riverbank. This is the one I mentioned starting in yesterday's Love Your Library challenge post. This time I'm using madelinetosh merino DK in the Alizarin colorway. It's more purple-grey and less pink than this picture would lead you to believe ...

Today I'm linking up with Tammy's Stitch-Along Wednesday, Ginny for Yarn Along, and Nicole for Keep Calm Craft On.

I absolutely love the colors for your little guy's blanket! And I'm supremely jealous that you're already on garter squish number 3-I have a feeling that as soon as I finish mine I'll want to swear of garter stitch forever!

Thanks! I'm contemplating adding either black or light gray as a third color ... I don't have enough Homespun yardage to equally match the orange, so a third color (at least) will be necessary!

Riverbank looks like a real nice pattern. I love those types of patterns that you can knit over and over again. Very nice blanket!

Prodigious! I wish I had that much knitting motivation right now— I may actually have a completed hat pattern. Beautiful stuff. :)

I've never heard of Garter Squish, but I have a feeling one's going to jump on my needles soon. I love the colors for your son's version.

A big soft woollen blanket would be so comforting. Clever to mix the bright acrylic yarn with something natural. Good way to not waste and you've given it a unique touch.

Wow, you get the award for patience! Those are large projects you are just powering through those blankets. This one is really pretty. And it must feel great to get through so much stash!

love how the pooling on the blanket makes those wavy lines - like an optical illusion. Thank you for sharing about this great pattern. Once I finish my sock yarn blanket this one might jump on the needles.
